SYAA

What is SYAA?
SYAA – Sisterhood of Young Animation Auteurs is a project-based workshop and a study program meant to encourage and support female auteurs to further develop their first or second professional short animation.

The workshop is 7 days long and is hosted in Bucharest, Romania during March (as of 2025). Each edition welcomes 10 female or female identifying filmmakers from the eligible countries: Romania, Republic of Moldova, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Ukraine and Bulgaria.

The main goal of the workshop is to increase the number of female filmmakers leading their own animation projects, in an attempt to combat gender stereotypes and sexism and, in the end, to achieve a more diverse cinematographic landscape.
