World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb, established in 1972, is one of the most important and the second oldest animation film festival in the world. Launched thanks to the global reputation of the filmmakers sprung from the Zagreb School of Animation and efforts of its great authors, such as Dušan Vukotić, Vatroslav Mimica, Zlatko Grgić, Nedeljko Dragić, Borivoj Dovniković, Animafest Zagreb takes great pride in being a festival by the filmmakers for the filmmakers.

Held every year in June in Croatia’s capital city Zagreb, the festival brings the best of short and feature animation from all over the world, qualifying its winners for the Oscars and Annie Awards.

In 2024, from 3 to 8 June, Animafest Zagreb will celebrate animation through its numerous programs, competitions, retrospective and thematic programs, international symposium on contemporary animation studies, presentations, exhibitions, lectures and workshops, providing a comprehensive insight into contemporary animated production and celebrating its rich tradition.
